Retrofitting Homes for Energy Efficiency – the New UK Specification PAS 2035
The failures of quality that resulted in the recent incidents at Grenfell Tower and the Edinburgh schools highlighted the need for an urgent review of the way in which quality is managed within the construction industry.
Retrofitting is one mechanism that is proving crucial to improving quality in the built environment and there is an increasing opportunity to professionalise this type of work.
Professor Edwards will describe the application of the PAS 2035 specification and the related PAS 2030 specification. He will describe the mandatory requirements for many organisations to comply with it and the competencies and related training requirements. He will also describe some of his own case study work in the practical application of retrofit.
The seminar should be of interest to everyone working with existing buildings and in particular those working under ‘Trustmark’ schemes, working for housing associations, local authorities and others working on housing retrofit projects.
PAS 2035 stipulates a requirement for the qualification SQA Level 3 Award in energy efficiency and retrofit of traditional buildings – find out about the course here
